Mental health and substance abuse network changes
Effective July 1, 2016, we are making some changes to our network of mental health and substance abuse providers. Geisinger Health Plan (GHP) has selected Magellan Healthcare to provide mental health and substance abuse services as covered by your clients’ GHP plans. Magellan offers a broad network of experienced providers, as well as nurse case managers working together with GHP staff. Magellan’s valuable online extras, such as their web-based learning programs, will provide members with additional resources.

Some providers may no longer be in the network. Members who are being seen by the affected providers have been notified by letter and given further instruction regarding their transition of care. To verify whether a provider is part of the new network, please visit www.mgln.us/GHPprovidersearch. Magellan will continue to add providers to the network on an ongoing basis, so please visit frequently to view the most updated list.

Important information about your commission payments
We will introduce a new, streamlined per subscriber per month (pspm) compensation plan beginning July 1, 2016. It is unique by specific market segment: one schedule for the 2-50 small group segment and another one for the 51-99 mid-market segment. Please refer to this updated schedule which includes production requirements and payment levels.

We first announced this change at the end of May. As a reminder, the impact from the revised commission schedule on earnings will vary by agency. Your first payment which includes the new schedule will be issued in August 2016. All business sold prior to July 1, 2016 will reflect the new payment rate.

Also, note that this change does not alter the established payment schedule of $25 per subscriber per month for the GHP small group level-funded TPA product, which is offered to employers with 25-99 enrolled subscribers.

"Mammothon" held at GHP
GHP recently held its first mammothon event in an effort to increase breast cancer screening rates among our members. A total of 175 employees from every GHP department volunteered their time to make calls, scheduling a total of 461 mammogram appointments in four days. For each scheduled appointment, GHP also donated $10 to the American Cancer Society.

Breast cancer is the second leading cause of cancer-related deaths in women and accounted for nearly 40,000 deaths in 2013, according to the National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA). GHP’s efforts targeted 4,500 members ages 50-74 and exceeded our goal to schedule 110 mammograms.

As a leader in the health insurance industry, GHP is committed to keeping our members healthy. The mammothon was just one step in an ongoing effort to educate our members on the importance of breast cancer screenings.
