Effective 4/1/16, HealthAssurance will be moving to AHP. Most PPO plans that are currently issued by Aetna Life Insurance Company or by HealthAssurance Pennsylvania, Inc. will be issued by AHP.
For regulatory purposes, we are required to notify plan sponsors and members to let them know about this legal entity change. Attached to this email are plan sponsor and member frequently asked question documents, along with the letter that will be sent to notify them of this change.
Provided below are questions and answers that are relevant to you, our valued brokers.
Q: Will I be appointed to sell AHP products?
A: Yes, we are filing the necessary paperwork with the Pennsylvania Insurance Department. This will ensure that you'll be able to sell AHP products, as well as the other Aetna products that you currently sell.
Q: How will this affect my commissions or general agent (GA) overrides?
A: Commission and GA override rates will not change from the commission you are currently receiving or would normally receive.
Q: Will I need to do anything to help my clients?
A: No, you don't have to do anything to make this change happen. The changes you see will be to legal entity paper but not to benefits or network access.
Q: Does this new company change anything regarding the normal renewal or new sale process?
A: No, you'll get the same type of quote that you're used to seeing and will have the same options to negotiate (depending on your group's size) or consider plan designs. AHP will issue the PPO plans that you see being issued by Aetna Life Insurance Company or by HealthAssurance of Pennsylvania, Inc. today. HealthAssurance of Pennsylvania, Inc. will not issue any new plans with anniversary dates as of 4/1/16 and later.
