Discontinuation of medically underwritten Community Blue PPO plans for 2016


As of Jan. 1, 2016, grandmothered medically underwritten Community Blue PPO plans in Western Pennsylvania Region 1 and 2 will be discontinued.


Impacted members will receive a letter next week advising them of their options and encouraging them to shop for another plan prior to Dec.15, 2015 for a Jan. 1, 2016 effective date. Members will not be auto-enrolled into another plan.

HM LIFE INSURANCE COMPANY


HM Life Insurance Company exits the group supplemental product line of business

Effective Nov. 30, 2015, HM Life Insurance Company (HM) will terminate all group Critical Illness, Accident and Term Life policies and transition these clients to similar products provided by The Guardian Life Insurance Company of America.

HM will continue to process all claims incurred on or before Nov. 30.

HM sent this letter to producers with impacted clients and introduced Guardian Life as an alternative carrier. This week, current HM group supplement clients will receive this termination letter.

MyBenefits

HM group supplemental products will be unavailable on the MyBenefits platform effective immediately.

As a result, any group going through open enrollment prior to Oct. 19, 2015 will be unable to shop for Accident, Critical Illness and/or Term Life policies. The Guardian Life Insurance Company of America products will be available on MyBenefits starting Oct. 19 for Dec. 1, 2015 effective dates.
