Get certified for the upcoming Open Enrollment season so you can sell on exchange

Individual Pre-65

The Federally-Facilitated Marketplace (FFM) registration and open enrollment is quickly approaching. Remember, registration with CMS is required if you're selling health insurance plans on‐exchange with the Federally‐Facilitated Marketplace. Subsidies can drive new business opportunities for you and subsidies are only available on exchange. To help prepare you for the upcoming selling season, we’re providing you with helpful reminders about CMS requirement webinars.

What's new for 2016

  • Open Enrollment runs November 1, 2015 through January 31, 2016
  • Registration for plan year 2016 will become available through the CMS Enterprise Portal later this summer. Changes for 2016 registration include:
    • Only one account is required (i.e., User ID and password) for the CMS Enterprise Portal account.
    • Once the registration page is available, you can check the status of your completion of each registration component in real time.
  • Training changes for 2016
    • Training will be offered by CMS as well as CMS-approved vendors. CMS will provide more information regarding the final list of approved vendors and the process of completion of training on the Agents and Brokers Resource Page.
    • The new Marketplace Learning Management System (MLMS) will replace the previously used Medicare Learning Network (MLN).
    • You may be able to receive CEU credits by completing training through a CMS-approved vendor, depending on the state in which you participate. CEU credits will not be offered through the MLMS training.
    • Training has been streamlined into 11 focused modules with updated content for 2016.
    • As a reminder, you must complete the exam associated with the required training modules and pass with a score of 70% or better for the training to be complete.
    • To receive credit for training, you must enter a correct National Producer Number (NPN) in your MLMS profile. Entering an inaccurate NPN could result in denial of compensation/credit by an issuer. Agent and broker NPNs can be found at http://www.nipr.com/PacNpnSearch.htm
  • Upcoming CMS training webinars - CMS will host webinars:
    • September 9 at 1:00 p.m. – 2:30 p.m. ET
