NEW CONNECT BLUE EPO FOR SMALL GROUPS
Highmark is pleased to announce that a new product, Connect Blue EPO, is available for small groups, starting with Oct. 1, 2015 effective dates.
Connect Blue is an innovative, lower-cost, in-network, EPO plan design, with three in-network tiers of benefits. It provides high quality care, close to home, and is built on the Community Blue network that preserves quality and choice while helping to control health care costs.
Highlights of Connect Blue:
- Three tiers of in-network benefits
- No out-of-network coverage except in specific situations (for example: all emergency care is covered at the top tier)
- Built on the Community Blue network
- Allegheny Health Network and other select providers participate at the top tier
- New cancer benefit for second opinions on cancer consultation
- Can be offered as a dual option with another Highmark product
Connect Blue for small groups is offered to small groups headquartered in these six western Pennsylvania counties: Allegheny, Beaver, Butler, Erie, Washington and Westmoreland.

Note: Connect Blue is an ACA-compliant product, so clients currently "grandmothered" in a pre-ACA health plan will lose their grandmothered status if they decide to offer Connect Blue in place of their current, grandmothered health plan.
