2016 United HealthCare/AARP certification will be
available on Wednesday, July 1st

UnitedHealthcare Medicare Solutions is accepting America's Health Insurance Plans (AHIP) certification and AHIP re-certification in place of:

  • 2016 Medicare Basics
  • 2016 Medicare Advantage Plans
  • 2016 Medicare Part D Plans (Prescription Drug Plans)

UnitedHealthcare will accept either a new AHIP certification or a re-certification if you are a returning AHIP user. Returning users will be directed to specific re-certification modules upon accessing their AHIP account.

AHIP Certification Options

  1. Beginning on June 22 you can take the AHIP courses directly from the AHIP website. However, you will need to return to the Learning Center on the UnitedHealthcare Distribution Portal after the certifications have launched on July 1 or after to transfer credits to UnitedHealthcare for the 2016 certification year. Click here  to learn more about the AHIP process. In addition, those that certify with AHIP will need to complete additional prerequisites (2016 Ethics & Compliance and 2016 AARP Course) to become fully certified to sell with UnitedHealthcare. Lastly, if you sell other types of plans in addition to Medicare Advantage and Medicare Part D, you will need to complete the other plans' certification modules. For more information, please consult the AHIP website .
  2. You may also access the AHIP courses from the Learning Center on the UnitedHealthcare Distribution Portal, beginning on July 1, 2015. If you access the Learning Center on or after July 1, you will be eligible for a $50 discount on AHIP courses offered by UnitedHealthcare. This discount will be automatically applied upon payment. Note: The payment is made on the AHIP site, not on the Learning Center on the UnitedHealthcare Distribution Portal.

Note:  Once an agent begins the certification process with AHIP or UnitedHealthcare, they must certify in that path within three attempts. An agent who fails to pass the AHIP course within three attempts is not permitted to restart the certification process through UnitedHealthcare and is not permitted to sell any UnitedHealthcare Medicare Solutions products for the applicable plan year.

UnitedHealthcare 2016 certification will be available beginning July 1
If you are not planning to certify through AHIP, stay tuned for more information. UnitedHealthcare is launching its 2016 certification courses early again this year. So, start planning to take the 2016 certification beginning July 1 by ensuring your licenses and appointments are in order by checking the UnitedHealthcare Distribution Portal. More information will be coming soon.
