COMMONWEALTH COURT RULES ON UPMC PARTICIPATION IN HIGHMARK MEDICARE PRODUCTS

Earlier today, the Commonwealth Court ruled that UPMC must contract with Highmark for our Medicare Advantage products.

In making this ruling, the Court agreed with the Attorney General's Office, the Insurance Department and the Health Department that the state-mediated Consent Decree protects access to UPMC for seniors in Highmark's FreedomBlue PPO and SecurityBlue HMO Medicare Advantage products.

Highmark is pleased that the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania took a strong stand and that the Court agreed. We look forward to offering our Medicare Advantage members a variety of product options at a variety of price points to meet their health care needs.
