INDIVIDUAL MARKET UPDATE

2015 missing commissions - Process enhancements to identify agent of record

In late January 2015, CMS announced that National Producer Numbers (NPNs) were being dropped from Marketplace enrollment files provided to carriers. The issue was intermittent throughout the open enrollment period and was not tied to any particular time frame.

This has caused commission delays and errors for the agent of record on many Marketplace accounts. CMS is NOT correcting this issue but has instead asked carriers to work with agents to resolve it.

Due to these issues, beginning with business written during the 2015 open enrollment period for under-65 direct pay individual business, Highmark has made enhancements to the Process to Identify/Correct Producer as Agent of Record. Please share this with those of your agents who are experiencing a commission issue due to a missing NPN.

Note: Before using this process, General Agencies should review their Direct Pay Daily Active Report and Direct Pay Cancel Report available through Reports@Hand. If a customer appears on one of these reports, your agency has been properly credited for the sale, and the commission issue may be due to non-payment of premium, not missing NPNs.

If you have any questions, please contact your Highmark individual sales channel consultant.

New CHIP application from PA Insurance Department

The PA Insurance Department has issued a new CHIP application. Please download this PDF and begin using it immediately, discarding any previous versions.

MEMBER PORTAL UPDATE

Member portal changes mean quicker access to important information

Recently changes were made to the member portal to bring important coverage details to the landing page and the Coverage Summary page, giving members quick access to the information they need.

Now members will see their family deductible and coinsurance right on the member landing page, after they sign in. Also, on the Coverage Summary page, they will see a grid showing their copays and coinsurance in- and out-of-network.
